My Manager said she saw a WebFocus demo that Showed AFTER a report was run...you could select different kinds of Output...Excel, PDF, HTML.
Anyone have an example of this code? She wants me to put this on our Website. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

most likely, in the demo your manager saw, drilldowns in a header offered different output formats, however in each case the fex is re-run with a different output format passed as a paramter from the drilldown, overriding the HTML default.
So the "AFTER" concept is an illusion. In every case the fex is re-run. Even if you have a win2k+ environment, and you use RCXX (right click export to excel), you are still rerunning the fex.

Prarie,
Don't you just love demos. There should be laws that demos must have the code available to managers to bring back with them - Because you know they're going to ask us to do those same 'illusions' .........

I built the illusion in a couple of my small reports because I too couldn't figure out how to do it without just re-running the fex...... If you find a neat trick let us know....

Chris Banks at IBI does a very swell demo with this feature and he uses cute little icons for a printer, a pdf file and the green excel icon.
and he's very generous with his code and his little icon things. ITs the little icons that give wings to the Illusion...very effective. I must admit to using them everywhere myself once i saw Chris's demo.! Wink

Do you think he'd be interested in publishing it under the Focus on Developers section of our main Focal Point page ?

here's a really really simple way;
1) put francesco's icons on your server in your vis directory; grab an Active Reports icon and make yourself a back ararow gif while you're at it.
2) DEFINE them
-IF &WFFMT.EXIST EQ 0 GOTO end.deficons ;
PDF/A100    = IF '&WFFMT'   IS 'HTML' THEN
  '<IMG TITLE="PDF" SRC="/ibi_html/vis/pdf.gif" style="border: 1px solid #FFFFFF;" >'
   ELSE ' ';
EXCEL/A100  = IF '&WFFMT'   IS 'HTML' THEN
  '<IMG TITLE="EXCEL" SRC="/ibi_html/vis/excel.gif"  style="border: 1px solid #FFFFFF;"> ' ELSE ' ';
ACTIVE/A200 = IF '&WFFMT'   IS 'HTML' THEN
  '<IMG TITLE="Active Report" SRC="/ibi_html/vis/activereport.jpg"  height=18 style="border: 1px solid #FFFFFF;"> ' ELSE ' ';
-TYPE launch exists &LAUNCH.EXIST &LAUNCH
-IF &LAUNCH.EXIST EQ 0 GOTO end.finpmdef ;
BASE/A200 = IF '&LAUNCH' EQ 'DEFAULT' THEN ' ' ELSE IF '&WFFMT' IS 'HTML' THEN
  '<a href="javascript:history.go(-1)">' |
  '<IMG TITLE="click to go back" SRC="/ibi_html/vis/arrow_back.gif" height=18 style="border: 1px solid #FFFFFF;"> ' |
  ' </A> ' ELSE ' ';
-end.deficons

3) in your fex:
HEADING
"<BASE<PDF<EXCEL<ACTIVE"

...
4) in your style sheet
TYPE=HEADING,LINE=1,ITEM=2,FOCEXEC=myfex(WFFMT='PDF' ...rest of your parms),$
TYPE=HEADING,LINE=1,ITEM=3,FOCEXEC=myfex(WFFMT='EXL2K' ....la de da), $
you get the idea, yes?
