I am trying to create a drop down to allow the user to decide the sort order of a specific column. I was able to get the drop down with the column choices and the separate drop down with highest and lowest. However, when I run the report it does not understand the highest and lowest values being passed. Both values were created as report variables. I have searched on here to find an answer, but have not come across it. Does anyone know how to?

The salerank.fex in the ibinccen directory has an example of that.

What happens if you put a -TYPE at the beginning of your program to see what the contents of the selected variables are? You can put a -EXIT right after that. Once you determine what is coming back, you can figure out the problem.

What I guess I am saying is that we don't have enough information to help you. You could also post your code between the code tags.

Where are you setting your variable &Order and &Filter and what are the values supposed to be? There would normally be some -SET statements to set these up from the parameters you pass. What &var is handling the HIGHEST or LOWEST value that you are wanting to control? Also it seemed a little strange that you would DEFINE Top100 to a literal value and then sort on that value - even though it is the same for every record.

And, unless the stylesheet is part of the issue here, you can leave that part off when posting. Just makes it harder to get to the bottom of things.

Regards,

Darin

The syntax is

BY HIGHEST/LOWEST TOTAL fieldname

I don't see that in your code at all.

Also if you don't see the selected items from your web page when you do the -TYPE and the -EXIT (make sure your output format is HTML for this), then there is something wrong with your launch page. Or are you using the default autoprompt page?

I am using the default lunch page. I do not know why it is not displaying in the code. However, I think I have found a work around it.

thanks,

Check out the following code where I do what it seems that you are attempting (I left out much of the extraeous code):

-* File JaguarReport.fex

Get the dates used in the extract
-INCLUDE reportdates
-INCLUDE EXTRACT1

-* 20080805 DL : Added &SortOrder so that we can combine the two versions into one procedures
-* &SortOrder values are: EXCESS and PERCENT which are used in the HEADING
-* The -DEFAULT &SortOrder is used and picked up in the GUI for the Launch Page creation.
-DEFAULT &SortOrder = 'EXCESS' ;
-TYPE *** &|SortOrder (IN): &SortOrder

TABLE FILE RANKING5
PRINT DEALER_# AS 'DEALER#DEALER_NAME AS 'DEALER NAME'
COUNTOFVIN AS 'VINS'
TOTALS/P10M AS 'TOTAL'
EXCESS
