Can anybody explain the fact that when a I run the the following procedure in ALPHA format:

SET MSG=OFF
DEFINE FILE &filename
DATE/YY-M-D = HDATE(DATETIME,'YYMD');
END
TABLE FILE &filename
SUM MAX DATE
ON TABLE HOLD FORMAT ALPHA AS MAXDTVAL
END

-RUN
-HTMLFORM BEGIN
!IBI.FIL.MAXDTVAL;
-HTMLFORM END

I get a result like: "20110310"

And in HTML, "2011-03-10" as expected.

Thanks in advanced,
Carlos Dias

If you do a hold format alpha, what happens is that the fields are written to the hold file in a sort of internal format. When you output to html, the result is written is display-foramt. These two formats may (will) differ.

If you look at the master generated, the field will have a USAGE and ACTUAL.

The ACTUAL will be A8, and the usage will be YY-M-D

If you need the dashes, then create an alpha field, and hold or save the data.

Thanks for the replay.
I use a different approach, so I ignore the need of using the dashes.
