Is it possible to use the 'IN FILE' command from within InfoAssist?
If so, how? In 8204?
If not, When do we think it will be available?

Here's a crazy thought: how about a method to Copy&Paste a list in to the Filter?

Or, is this to be added another NFR / Things that App Studio can do but IA cannot?

Doug

I think (not sure) you can use 'in list' for the operator

Thanks Chuck,

While

It requires the user to hand type, of select from the current file, a list of items. Sometimes their list is in the dozens, if not hundreds, of items. This is considered by most as too many for 'simple' adhoc queries, to which I agree.

A solution may be to JOIN to that file in the first place, which I'll pass on to the users.

Doug

I hadn't used it before so wasn't sure what needed to be done I just saw it listed as an option. Hopefully your JOIN will work.

The use of a "List File', with an associated synonym did work. A caveat is that you need to start your report using the list file then join it to the associated source file.

All's well with this work-around in place. I knew we can do that in WebFOCUS.
