I have a PDF file where the width of the report exceeds the end of the page. I have the squeeze on, but the data in the fields are to large to fit into one page without wrapping. Is there any way to tell InfoAssist to limit the report to 1 page width? Or is there a way to issue wrap in InfoAssist? I don't see anyway I can control my column widths to ensure that my report is never more then 1 page wide.

Eric,

There are a few options available in InfoAssist to control column widths.

In the Layout tab:

Cell Padding: ( found in Techsupport knowledge base)
How to control the column width in InfoAssist

Autofit Column. Limits the width of columns in a report to be no wider than the largest value in each column. Autofit Column is selected by default.

Another idea is to reduce the size of your column title or have multiple lines of titles or reduce the font size slightly

There is no equivalent to squeeze or wrap in the InfoAssist tool at this point. Possibly, opening the "document" viewer - depending on what you are doing - there is a way to resize components with "handles". This might not fit what you are trying to do.

The InfoAssist Manual for WebFOCUS 8008 states:
There is no way to define a limit for the number of characters that will fit on a page. This limit varies by the selected page and font styling. The bigger the page size and smaller the font, the more characters that can fit.

Tamra,

Thanks for the feedback. I would argue that the Techsupport Knowledge base is grossly wrong/misleading for the stated problem.

The cell padding controls has nothing to do with controlling the size of the column width. What it does do is apply the RIGHT/LEFT/TOP/BOTTOM GAP style to all elements in the entire report. Hardly helpful when trying to control the size of an individual column.

Its just highly dissapointing and frustrating with how IBI pushes their GUI tools as these great solutions, when they are missing basic elements of the FOCUS language.
