At high level and your IBI rep may be the one to contact.

DevStudio (DS) is the "old" developer tool for prior IBI V8 (even if still available with V8+ but will not be supported anymore in a nearby future by IBI (their plan)).

AppStudio (AS) is a more web based developer AND user tool. So instead of having one tool for developers and one for users, IBI will only have one to maintain/support.

There are a lot of other differences/advantages/disadvantages, but I will not make a list 'cause it vary from one person to another to what to put in each column Music

MartinY got it for the most part.

DevStudio is a more developer-friendly tool for building your BI solutions. It won't get past release 8.2 if it even gets that far.

AppStudio is trying to be an InfoAssist app for the developers' end users while losing ground in the developer tool arena. It is said to be considered complete as of 8.1.05, but big changes are in store as of 8.2 in regards to how the BIP product architecture is implemented, etc.

8.2.02M (production), 8.2.02M (test), Windows 10, all outputs.

APP Studio is more than that.

It´s a package from IBI with a lot of tools. It allows you to develop not only reports(fex), master files, access files, sql queries, graphs, objects compounds and a lot of other things.

It also contain a WebFOCUS Server for local standalone development and also has Data Management tools.

Using it can connect on multiples WebFOCUS enviroments.

Check it out with an official IBI rep, I am sure you will like APP Studio8.
