Only from the point of view that Excel 2010 can read EXL2K output.

If you want Excel 2007 binaries (EXL07) which are the same as 2010 switch to WF 7.7.0.2

Also, Excel 2010 does not support Excel Templates created in Excel 2003 and, as far as I know, there is no alternative...

We should also wonder if Information Builders has an alternative. I've created several Excel templates used by WebFOCUS reports. The organization I work at is planning to upgrade to Office 2007. As far as I know, the only way to continue to edit the Excel templates is to keep Excel 2003 running on at least one PC.

Correct , however you can run both Excel 2003 and 2007 on the machine at the same time, all down to how you install.

Or use a vmware image of the 2003 setup and use that.

There is a method if you do not mind post processing the Excel file.

I wrote an article that has been added to the tips n techniques area.

We are also planning an upgrade to Office 2010 from Office 2003. We are on 7.6.11. Let me see if I have this correct because we have numerous reports that use .mht files.

Basically, to create or update .mht files, one has to have a copy of Excel 2003 available.

Excel 2010 will properly use the .mht file from Excel 2003 but will not properly create or update.

Is that about it?

There is also supposed to be an alternative template format in Excel 2007 that is supported in 7.7. This format does not support macros, though. I got this information as part of our research for the next release (we haven't tried this yet).

It is documented in
Technical Memo: Saving Report Output in Excel 2007 Format (TM 4690)
at the end on pages 15-16.

(Prod: WebFOCUS 7.7.03: Win 2008 & AIX hub/Servlet Mode; sub: AS/400 JDE; mostly Self Serve; DBs: Oracle, JDE, SQLServer; various output formats)
