[CLOSED] Dev Studio HTML Composer to App Studio HTML Canvas Issues
We are in the process of moving from Dev Studio (R8.0) to App Studio (R8.2). We have a HTML document that we created in Dev Studio that has 58 reports on 4 tabs and has a lot of java script to control objects depending on what report is selected. It runs fine in App Studio as is. When it is opened in App Studio (HTML Canvas) it immediately goes through some sort of conversion process. When we run it, many of the java script commands no longer work. When it is open in the HTML Canvas there are many other problems too numerous to include in this post.

Has anyone experienced similar issues and had any luck with resolutions?

Thanks,
Ted

Ted,

Yes, our site has had similar problems. Solution: We now no longer use [AppStudio] for form development save to build out a set of responsive filters/controls when we need to manually wire them up beyond the capability of the new WF Designer tool available from the 8202M WF Home page. Honestly, 8202M is an adequately stable build (still has slews of issues/bugs as is customary with every single 8+ IBI release, but all have had a workaround option so far. Knock on wood.). Our site has become reaaaally skilled at creating workarounds for limitations, bugs, issues with their products. We joke from time to time that we should write a 1001 Ways to Workaround IBI book at some point. LOL

Anyways, currently the best workflow is to create your forms by ONLY utilizing [AppStudio]'s [form generating tool] for manual chaining dev of controls/filters, and then dropping them into a Portal Page panel applying the bip-responsive-1 CSS class to the parent panel. Then dropping the dependent content into the page below your controls; eventually linking it to a portal.

Best of luck Ted!

Absolutely! We encountered that the same issue occurred with very simple HTML pages - even with no tabs.

The solution provided by Tech Support is to rebuild the page, starting from scratch.

Yep!

Spent over a year rebuilding while migrating forms from 7.6 to 8.0 a few years back, and now the cycle continues... To avoid said cycle of heck, build all new forms as described above, avoiding their [form generating tool] in [AppStudio] like a plague of locusts unless absolutely needful.

Cool Guy's process sounds like a must-see presentation at Summit! Maybe a Webinar??? A great way to get into Summit for free.

Michael,

I've probably documented the technique several times already in the forums. Last time was with Doug I think when he was having troubles.

We were actually on course to go to Summit this year, but our CIO pulled the plug for various reasons that would take too long to disclose here. Not sure we will be going again moving forward either. Sorry.
