I am trying to delay my ReportCaster jobs until the daily data load into the various servers is complete. I have read the articles and seen the code, but I'm at a roadblock because I don't have access to the BOTSCHED or BOTLOG tables, and I can't get it without approval. So, I'm thinking that maybe I can do something else. I'm thinking that I can get IT to assign just one agent to ReportCaster. Then I make a loop fex that checks periodically for the daily load file and schedule that fex as priority 1. My thinking is that since I only have one agent and that agent will be occupied by this loop until day-end processing is complete, that then the other ReportCaster jobs will have been queued up and will run in order after the loop finishes. Does this make any sense and does it sound reasonable to the experts out there? Thanks! Windows version 768 | ||

If all your reportcaster jobs rely on the data loading to complete you could just stop the reportcaster service when your data load job starts and then start the reportcaster service when the data loads are complete. What about if I start ReportCaster after the time a schedule was supposed to start? Will it go back to jobs that were supposed to run when it was off and run them? Windows version 768 | |||

Yes it would. We have an overnight load that ends between 4AM and 7AM. Our reports start running at 6AM. We stop the service at 4AM and start it up again when the load finishes. If the service re-starts at 6:30AM the reports that were scheduled for 6AM start as soon as the service is re-started. One more question: Stopping the service - is that something that I can do as an end user or do I need to get IT in on this? I do have console rights. Thanks! Windows version 768 | |||

Hi Mark1, Has this issue been resolved? Did Lenny's suggestion help? Many thanks to Lenny's help.  If your ReportCaster is installed on Windows, you can also stop the service in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, high light on ReportCaster 713, right click and choose Stop.
