[SOLVED] can't access server after 7.6.11 upgrade

I am working remotely, connecting to a WebFocus server that was just upgraded yesterday to 7.6.11 from 7.6.6. I am running Dev Studio 7.6.4. We have been trying to get the latest version of Dev Studio from IBI, with no luck so far.

I thought I had accessed the webserver after the upgrade was completed, but I haven't been able to at all today.

Are there any issues with accessing a 7.6.11 server from Dev Studio version 7.6.4?

Not that I know of.
But when you're only upgrading the server and nothing else, then you should have the new server use the same ports as the old one. If the ports are different, then also the webfocus client configuration has to change to allow access to the new server ports. And I have come across numerous upgrades where after the upgrade the service to start the new server was not set to start automatically. So after a reboot - no access to the server.

Well, I have some really recent experience to add to the mix. Last night we tried to upgrade to 7.6.11, client and server, from 7.6.5 with 7.6.6 servers. We never could get about.jsp to run properly so the long and short of it was that we had to back out the client. We didn't back out the server and this morning there was heck to pay as none of the DRILLMENUITEM reports worked if there was a space in the data.

My recommendation is to back off the 7.6.11 server unless you plan on upgrading the webfocus client as well.

It was a long night.....

Theresa, if you have a site code, you can download Dev Studio from the IBI Tech Support site, techsupport.ibi.com.

I re-read your initial post. It sounds like you do have the 7611 client, just not DS.

Good luck.

It turns out I was given some inaccurate information. They didn't upgrade the production server. Another group was working on the VPN and that's why I couldn't get to the WebFocus server. I can access it now.
