We are using an Excel template to produce a multi-tab report, aiming three reports at three repective worksheets. (The template includes macros; no other way AFAIK of returning an excel workbook complete with user-written macros).

BUT I find that the STYLE declaration...
TYPE=REPORT, TITLETEXT='whatever', $

... has no effect on the tabname, when the output is produced with the TEMPLATE option, as in the series
TABLE ...
ON TABLE HOLD AS myreportA FORMAT EXL2K TEMPLATE myreportT SHEETNUMBER 1
END

TABLE ...
ON TABLE HOLD AS myreportB FORMAT EXL2K TEMPLATE myreportA SHEETNUMBER 2
END

TABLE ...
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K TEMPLATE myreportB SHEETNUMBER 3
END

I tried combining FORMAT EXL2K TEMPLATE with SET COMPOUND=BYTOC, since BYTOC does control the tabnames. The result was that the agent crashed -- those two do not mix. (Not a big surprise -- bytoc emits a multiple page document; the combination would replace a single HTML document within the source template with a complete template [comprising a single page].)

Any suggestions? Did I miss something?

The only thing that I can think of is to write a macro to take the contents of a cell in the sheet, and rename the tab to it.

Waz...
