can I use the dowk function with -set command? I am trying to translate today's date &YYMD into the day of the week.
Any help is appreciated!

Give this a shot.

-SET &ECHO=ALL;
-SET &WK_VALUE = DOWK(&YYMD.EVAL, '');
-* to show what value you got.
&WK_VALUE.EVAL

-SET &MYDAY = DOWK(&YYMD,'A4');
