This code allows you to report on the structure of a FOCUS database master:

CHECK FILE CAR HOLD
-RUN

TABLE FILE HOLD
PRINT *
END

Is there a method to report on FOCUS database statistics - number of pages, characters, segments, etc.? These statistics are available with the "? FILE file-name" (after I allocate the file) but I would like to create a report.

Thank you,

Not that I am aware of, at least not an easy way.

Technique with turning tracing on and capturing it, will get the output.

you can get the seg size from systable or from CHECK FIILE fn HOLD. Then count the number of segments for each segment and MATCH the files together. From that you should be able to calculate how many segs or pages there are. Just remember that the root seg have less available space (3962 bytes if I recall) due to the FDT. You also have to take into consideration space for the different pointers, i.e. next, child and parent. I don't know how exact you want it to be, but it would be possible to get something out of this.

Håkan, thanks for the suggestion. I had completely forgotten about the SYSTABLE master.
