Hi All,
I am not able to wrap a column in Excel using "Type=Report,Column=....,Wrap=0.5,$" syntax. I observed that if a column is used both in BY clause (with NOPRINT) and PRINT clause, then wrap doesnt work for that column. Is WebFOCUS not able to resolve which column to wrap because it appears twice? Has anyone encountered similar issue?
I cannot avoid the NOPRINT clause (i have 8 BY clause with NOPRINT and 25 PRINT columns) bcoz I need the output in a certain order. Any ideas?

duplicate the field by using DEFINE and name it field_1 or whatever, then the original field for your BY phrase and use the duplicate field_1 in your print statement. you can then reference the columns independantly.

or use N(Col Number) as your reference in the style sheet code.

Thanks for the post.
I was looking at a generic solution which can be used across programs. Using N(col no) is not helping. Still I get the same issue. Define I want to keep as a last solution bcoz i need to customize it for each of my fexes.

There are a number of ways to do this generically.

You can also use the 'Pn' column notation. The n part is the number of the coulmn as it appears in the output. If using the 'N(col no)' is not working for you then you might be counting the columns incorrectly. Using 'Pn' is the easiest column notation method.

Also, instead of using DEFINE you could use COMPUTE.

TABLE FILE EMPLOYEE
SUM HIRE_DATE
COMPUTE NEWSAL/D12.2M=SALARY;
BY DEPARTMENT
BY SALARY NOPRINT
BY LAST_NAME
ON TABLE SET BYPANEL ON
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, COLUMN=NEWSAL, WRAP=0.25,$
ENDSTYLE
END

As correctly surmised, the problem arises because you have the same field specified twice in your stylesheet. Use the form -
TYPE=REPORT, COLUMN=[fieldename](*), $ to specify all occurences of the field [fieldname].

Tony A's solution is better than my suggestion as you won't have to find out which number across your column is (which you have to do with COLUMN = N()) so i'd use his suggestion in this instance
