Creating a huge document with multiple tabs and a dozen reports on each one. I thought I'd get all the holds necessary completed before I actually start on the document. After I finished I went to start building some charts and tables, but quickly realized I no longer had access to all of the holds needed to do so. When I click the "Switch" feature under the data tab it only displays a handful of the holds in an order that looks to be random. I can't seem to scroll up or down to see more and have tried everything I could think of, entering and leaving old holds, rearranging hold files (often throws errors), right clicking for more options, dragging and dropping, using the "add" feature (wont display temporary holds), nothing seems to work. Does anybody know a way around this, or has had this issue?
Furthermore, they all appear when trying to join:
I would just try to create less holds but I can't think of any other way to do what I'm trying to. I'm using the Within feature to do some projections which you can't use in defines or computes until it's applied to a field and then held. As far as I can tell I will have to start the entire project over and create the document as I go, pretty annoying, a lot of lost work. This message has been edited. Last edited by: FP Mod Chuck,

Hi Cimmerian
If I am understanding this you created some procedures outside of the the document that created hold files. Did you use the APP HOLD command to save them permanently? If so is the directory where they are saved in the APP PATH?

They are all temporary holds, I didn't feel it was necessary to make them permanent. Confused as to why there is a limit in the switch drop down even if the document (seemingly) lets you create any number of temporary holds.

If the procedures creating the temporary hold files are not referenced in the document then they would not show up. The way you made it sound was those procedures were created before the document.
Can you provide the document code please?

Sorry for the late reply life got busy fast.
So I was actually able to greatly limit my hold count with a bit more brain power and am working with less that 5 tables (including holds) now. So the switch feature isn't causing me trouble in this report specifically anymore but it is already a slight issue in another report I am building. The premise remains the same, when you are working with more that 10 tables in a document the switch feature wont display all the tables thus preventing me from accessing holds I built earlier in the session. Only way around this as far as I can tell is to insert reports using the holds along the way, that way when you click on the report it brings up the hold file without having to use the switch feature.
