Just covering bases here, but I've hit a wall with a situation we have with Report Caster schedules.

We need to have a "super" user be able to clean up (delete) schedules, but as far as I have seen, the security is pretty tight in V8.1.04, and I can't find an appropriate privilege to allow this.

Any Ideas ?

Hey Waz,

Which repository report caster is using?

Can you ask to the DBAs to delete it from the table it uses to store the schedules?

Its the Schedules that need to be deleted, I've got the report deletion covered.

Back end tables for the repository is a possibility, but I think dangerous. I was hoping for a clean web service call.

Thanks for the suggestion

RC in 8 is different, there is a file that is created under content, and the schedule is in the BOT tables.

Both need to be deleted.

Deleting the records in the BOT tables is possible, but the file created under content may be very tricky.

Waz,

wouldn't your Administrators have "SystemFullControl" over everything in the Repository?

Then you should be able to use

http://host:port/ibi_apps/rs/ibfs/WFC/Repository/FolderName/ScheduleName?IBIRS_action=delete

to delete the schedule.

If you have set up IBI_Admin_Name/IBI_Admin_Pass in the Admin Console under Configuration -> Application Setttings -> Security then this ID will have "superuser" rights over the entire system

quote:
Specifies the user ID of the WebFOCUS administrator or superuser. When IBI_Admin_Name and IBI_Admin_Pass are set, this user is given ALL permissions, regardless of other policies set within the system. Typically, this user ID is used under limited circumstances and removed when no longer needed.

Cheers

Stu

Hi Stu,

For some reason, even the admin user doesn't seem to have the rights to delete other users content.

I'll double check the IBI_Admin_Name and see

Hi Waz,

What does the Effective Policy show for one of the schedules you are trying to delete?

In 8.0.09 when looking at another users schedule the
"Delete Resources" Privilege shows "Not Set(Denied)" on on system where the Administrator has SystemFullControl -> Permitted for /, WFC and Repository.

However in the Dev system where Administrator has been set to SystemFullControl -> Over Permitted then "Delete Resources" Privilge shows "Permitted".

Maybe you need to bump up one or more Admin accounts to "Over Permitted" which will override a specific "Denied" on a resource.

Cheers

Stu

There must be another privilege missing as I can't see the schedules at all, only when they are shared.

As Admin, try clicking the "Administration" link and select "Mode Manager".

It defaults to "Mode Normal" which hides unshared and unpublished content.
