I need to pass an &variable value to Power Point to use as a footer on every slide. Something like "Sales Reports Through 2/6/2014"
Is there an easier way than adding a report to every slide?

If you are using LAYOUT painter syntax to create COMPOUND DOCUMENT, then you can use MASTER COMPONENT to get this added in one place to reflect in all slides.
