Table has one date field in it. Date is one day of each month when data is sent. I use this table in a drop down list. The list is from earliest to most recent date. How can I get it to display the most recent date on the top?

In order to populate your listbox in reverse order, you will have to populate it off a procedure, not directly from the database.

Release: WebFOCUS 7.6.8

You may table the file off in a hold file, then do a sort by date in desending order.

TABLE FILE filename
SUM DST.DATE
BY HIGHEST DATE
ON TABLE SET HOLDLIST PRINTONLY
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT XML
END

Write this procedure according to your specifications and then reference it in the control for the date when you are in the HTML Layout Painter.

I got GinnyJakes procedure to work. Thank you. I have another question. The date is coming back in format YYYY/MM/DD hh:mm:ss. How can I strip of the hh:mm:ss part?

Use the HDATE subroutine to extract the data from the datetime format field.

I understand how tio use hdate but I can't get the dropdown list to display anything. What line of code in your example populates the data in the drop down.

Sorry. You weren't clear on what wasn't working.

The line is ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT XML.

What happens when you run the dropdown populating fex all by itself? Do you get XML output and only two columns?
