Report Caster - How to FTP burst values to different locations

We are on WF 760 HP UX.
Our upcoming project requires us to FTP reports from Caster to a remote portal where they will be hosted. I can do that now if I ftp all the burst values to one location, but I am having trouble coming up with a way to ftp each burst value to a different folder/directory on the ftp site.
Has anyone come across this in Report Caster? Can we use a Distribution File for FTP that holds location informaion? The documentation only talks about 2 fileds in the distribution file - burst value and filename.

i can tell you how to do this, if your write your own code, but i can't tell you how to do it in the gui, other than creating individual schedules.
If you write your own code, you would construct a loop in your fex, executing each loop for each burst value, and writing your own ftp PUT script within each loop, changing the directory according to the burst value.
If you want to go that route, post back, and i'll write up an example for you. It works really well.
In the meantime, perhaps someone will come along with a cooler gui idea.

I have considered that option, but that would take too long to run. We will be running multiple reports every night and ftp'ing the files.

Bursting would be the most efficient way.

The other alternative I am considering is bursting the output to a directory on our UNIX server, and then writing a UNIX script that will run at the end of the cycle with embedded SQL to read each filename and derive the path for ftp'ing each file to the appropriate location.

Did you try just appending the path on the field name in the distribution list? I don't know if it would work or not - just a thought:
  Distribution list of CNTRYDIST
Burst Value    File Name
ENGLAND        /ENGLAND/England.PDF
JAPAN          /JAPAN/Japan.PDF
W GERMANY      /WGERMANY/WGermany.PDF

and so on.

Actually, we currently use your alternate method. All procedures are FTPed to the smae location and then we have a scheduled script that runs on our Linux server that moves the files to their appropriate locations and builds HTML indexes for users to see the files in their directory structure.

why use ftp if you can e-mail the files?

I tried your suggestion and it worked. Appending the path to the file name in the distribution list allows us to send each burst value to a different directory on the ftp site.

I have a ticket open with IBI on this. I will let them know that this method works.
