Where I try to use special characters in the footer, it replaced them with a "?". Do I ned to put in ansi code to display them? Below is my code. It doesn't like the "-" or "©".

the symbol for copyright is

&|copy;

on this forum , search for Vivian Perlmutter's thread, 'dodging bullets'
or...
goto degraeve.com / reference / specialcharacters.php
remember when using that you have to escape the ampersand, so that's what the pipe | character is for.

These codes work for HTML formats but not PDF and Excel. Any ideas?

in pdf i had used images but its SOOOO hard that i just stopped.
so i would use (c) for copyright, eg. good enuf for gummint work.
in excel, i'm finding it impossible to pull images into new versions so i just quit.

a dash is just an ascii character so - should work fine, anyway, right?

Thanks! I ended up using the (c) for Excel and PDF. I used HEXBYT(45, 'A1'); for a minus sign representing the dash. for Excel and PDF

For AHTML I used &|#169; 2015 &|#727; to show the copy right and a dash.

You just have to love it, to have to code 3 different ways depending on the output.

Here is another option which works for many formats

DEFINE FILE CAR
COPY2/A25 = HEXBYT(169,'A2');
DASH/A25 = HEXBYT(45,'A2');
STRING/A70='Copyright ' | HEXBYT(169,'A2')  | '2015 ' | HEXBYT(45,'A2')  | ' xxxx, Inc. ' | HEXBYT(45,'A2') | ' All rights reserved.  Page ';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT CAR
BY COUNTRY
FOOTING
"<STRING"
"Copyright <COPY2 2015 <DASH xxxx, Inc. <DASH All rights reserved. <+0> Page"
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT AHTML
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
END

Don't know for you, but for me it's 180 and 51 that are copyright symbol and dash (long dash it's 52)

DEFINE FILE CAR
COPY2/A25 = HEXBYT(180,'A2');
DASH/A25 = HEXBYT(51,'A2');
STRING/A70='Copyright ' | HEXBYT(180,'A2')  | '2015 ' | HEXBYT(51,'A2')  | ' xxxx, Inc. ' | HEXBYT(51,'A2') | ' All rights reserved.  Page ';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT CAR
BY COUNTRY
FOOTING
"<STRING"
"Copyright <COPY2 2015 <DASH xxxx, Inc. <DASH All rights reserved. <+0> Page"
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT HTML
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
END

So maybe you'll have to play around with numbers to find the appropriated one...

Thanks for trying. Those did not work for me. Perhaps it has to do with a system setting.
