I leaved about this code at the User Conference. We are running a self-service application and I'm running the associated code in a .fex inside -HTMLFORM BEGIN line under the "FORM ACTION" tags. When I run the fex it gives me a "Done with errors on the page" in the status bar of IE. Can this only be used in MRE? Can this only be used within .html or .htm files?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Ryan

well, we would have to see your code, and whether your launch page is .htm or .asp, but first, a self-serv launch page can be alot simpler than an mre one. the selfserv launch doesn't need IBMR_random, for example.

I've run into trouble if you have the same selection criteria in a form and you don't refresh the page it will simply bring up the report that just ran, rather than re-executing the program. The code that I used is being run from a .fex with -HTMLFORM BEGIN commands.

I simply add a Random variable of my own.

In WebFOCUS, I usually use the time:

-SET &RNDM = EDIT(HHMMSS('A8'),'99$99$99');
and pass this variable in a URL or drilldown.

In JavaScript:

&RNDM + Math.floor((Math.random()*100000));
