One way I remember using some time ago was the following:
DOS STATE C:\ibi\apps\data\car.foc
-IF &RETCODE EQ 0 GOTO DONE;
-GOTO NONE

WebFOCUS 8202 Win 2012
Test - WebFOCUS 8203 on Win 2012

When you right-click at the folder level in MRE, one of the options under "New Standard Report" is the 'Alert Wizard'. You could use it to determine the existence of a file.

Digger, you need to update your profile to put your system attributes into your signature.
DOS STATE or CMD STATE are windows commands.
and be sure to put a -RUN after such a command before checking the &RETCODE

then there's this way
-* retcode will be 0 if ok and 1 if not ok
-SET &ECHO = ALL ;
!IF EXIST d:\ibi\apps\TBLHITX.FTM (DEL d:\ibi\apps\RDMASTE1.MAS /F)

Another option is the WHENCE command:

WHENCE

for example
WHENCE CAR FOCUS
or
WHENCE CAR MASTER

it will return the location of the file in the search path and a foc error if the file does not exist.
