This has happened several times before. When I go to create a synonym, the Reporting Server asks me to create a connection. I have a connection. I can see it in edasprof. It runs and I can pull data with it. But when I go to create a master file (with admin privileges on the service) it's not there. It doesn't appear on the Adapters option on the console, isn't presented when I try to create a new synonym on the Applications option. Eventually it will come back.

Anyone have any theories? Is this just me?

J.

Ok, so here's how I convinced WF Reporting Server to give me my connection back. When asking to create a new synonym it presented me with a list of adapters, so I chose the one we use -- MS SQL*Server 2008. It popped up a page looking for a connection so I gave it a crap one -- Con1, 0.0.0.0, trusted. Pressed Configure.

Magic -- Con1 appears, and so does my existing connection. I blew away Con1 and I'm back in business.

Sure would love to know why I had to do this.

I've documented this here because it's likely the place I'll come looking for it when it happens next time.
