People have been talking about the cloud for over two years and it seems increasingly clear that it’s an idea whose time has come. Information Builders is embarking on a new strategy for selling our tools to those interested in deployment on a cloud-based infrastructure. Here is a brief overview of some of the terms you are likely to hear when discussing the cloud.

When most people think of the cloud, one of two things comes to mind – free online storage (such as DropBox, Microsoft SkyDrive, or Google Drive) or cloud-hosted software applications like Salesforce.com. cloud service offerings fall into three general categories: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
