I have 2 CSV files that I want to join. Of course they are not sorted on JOIN fields.
SET PCOMMA=ON JOIN SUCCESSMETRICSAGGREGATE.SUCCESSMETRICSAGGREGATE.STATE IN SUCCESSMETRICSAGGREGATE TO ALL STATEGEO.STATEGEO.STATE IN STATEGEO AS J0 END
I tried to flip joins, tried using MULTIPLE, ALL and UNIQUE in join type. I even tried adding SET PCOMMA=ON at the top but still does not work.
Question - When we join CSV or flat files Do they always have to be sorted in join field order or otherwise also it can work.
thanks

CSV files basically are just flat files. So, yes, they need to be sorted in the same way to be able to do the join. Alternative solution is to do a table on the to-file, hold it as a focus file with an index omn the join-field and then join to this focus file. That should solve your problem.
Hope this helps ...

I'm not sure of the answer to your specific question..but you could table your files and hold as Focus Files, Indexing the join fields and join with no problem. Someone else might answer your specific question.

Thanks GamP and Prarie. I thought so but I wanted to avoide creating hold files.
