Hi Folks,

We have started to upgrade from 5.2.x to 7.1.x. Our reporting servers are on USS where as the MRE is on windows box. We have a test 7.1.x instance of reporting server running and just out of curiosity I have pointed my MRE reports to run on 7.1.x. The reports seem to run fine. However, Information Builders says that it is not supported. Any thoughts?.

Thanks.

ntf,

What is meant by 'not supported' is usually -

1. It is not recommended because sufficient testing has not been able to be completed.

2. Any problems you run into using that configuration are down to you. e.g. no support.

In this instance I would hazard a guess that it falls into the recommendation that both client and reporting servers should be at the same release level. If you consider the myriad of combinations of different server levels that could be used together, you can understand the recommendation!

Susannah,

I just want to make sure that I understood your site configuration correctly.

Your client is at 5.2.5 on windows where as the reporting servers ar at 5.3.3 on AS/400.

Please confirm.

Thanks

oh no,newto.
its called a hub-sub configuration
my remote server is 533 on the iSeries
and my server, and client , and site are all three on a win2k platform in 528.
what i run on the remote 533 box is very vanilla etl code, so i never encounter any of the 53 problems.

So your 533 server on iSeries is configured to SUB for the 5.2.8 server on Windows.

Thanks for the info.
