I have a report that drills on itself. Until now it used an external file. We have to manipulate the data in WebFOCUS resulting in a held .ftm file. The first run of the report returns expected results. When I drill, I get the same volume of data as well as the same &lines and &records when the drill narrows down the search even after issuing a FILEDEF CLEAR.

The suspicion is WebFOCUS isn't overwriting the previous hold with the new hold until the session is closed.

IF there has been discussion on this topic before please point the document out to me. I can't begin to think how to effectively narrow the search.

Advice and suggestions on how I might overcome this problems are welcomed.

Of course, Thank you.

Have you checked the output of the drilldown to see the flow of the code with -SET &ECHO=ALL;

Yes, that part of the code didn't change but I followed the logic thru to make sure it didn't go awry.

Waz, I thank you for your interest but it would be too much to ask of you. This report, which I inherited, is actually multiple .fex of which the main body is about 5000 lines. It is completely parameter driven flooded with &vars.

By your earlier response, I'm gathering that the report IS overwriting the old .ftm with the new .ftm and there is something else amiss.

Your response helped by eliminating a time waster and lets me direct my attention to other areas.

Thank you.
