I am using MS SQL Server 2000 with Developer studio. One of the date filed in Master file is of smalldate defined from SQL Server. I decomposed date filed in the master file into Year and Month with defauld values created by Master file tool (GUI). When I add master file into a report I get following error.
"ERROR PARSING MASTER FILE (FOC282) RESULT OF EXPRESSION IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE FORMAT OF THE FIELD: YEAR (FOC101) ERROR IN DEFINE IN MASTER FILE"
Your support will be appreciated

Faisal,

You might want to post the relevant field definitions from your master file. Otherwise it's difficult to see what's going wrong.

Cheers

Previous issue is resolved just by adding H in the format of year and moth format e.g. HYY.
Now I have another question. When I added decomposed year in where/if statement, output also shows duplicated year values. Now I want to output only unique values for example, if database contains more than one "2003" year values in field, I want to display it only one time.
Do I have to use any function now.
Your suggestions are appreciated.

Faisal,

Without knowing exactly what you want your output to be, my guess would be to make the year a BY field.

Cheers
