I had some code using TOT prefix in a COMPUTE in Dev Studio 8009 that used to work but does not in 8201m.

SUM
COMPUTE REC_SEQ/I8 = 1 + LAST REC_SEQ;
ACCT_CNT/I8C AS '# Accounts'
COMPUTE CUMULATIVE/I8C = IF ( REC_SEQ EQ 1 ) THEN TOT.ACCT_CNT - ACCT_CNT ELSE ( CUMULATIVE - ACCT_CNT ); AS 'Cumulative'
BY SUPP_GRP_SORT NOPRINT

I did it this way to avoid a multi verb SUM with a higher aggregate COMPUTE as that goofs up the sub-total output visual (2 lines in Excel).

thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,

This works fine for me on any of the releases that I have (includes 8.2.01m) and produces a descending cumulative value OK.

I am not sure what you mean by your last comment about goofing up the sub-total. Can you supply an example using ggsales (for instance)?

Oh, and what MS Excel format? EXL2K or XLSX?

T

TABLE FILE GGSALES
SUM COMPUTE REC_SEQ/I8 = 1 + LAST REC_SEQ;
    DOLLARS/I8C AS '# Stores'
    COMPUTE CUMULATIVE/I8C = IF ( REC_SEQ EQ 1 ) THEN TOT.DOLLARS - DOLLARS ELSE ( CUMULATIVE - DOLLARS ); AS 'Cumulative'
BY ST NOPRINT
ON TABLE SET PAGE NOLEAD
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT XLSX
END

Also, you can avoid the multi verb request by using the "WITHIN" syntax. This may alleviate your subtotal being "goofed" up.

TABLE FILE GGSALES
SUM COMPUTE REC_SEQ/I8 = 1 + LAST REC_SEQ;
    CNT.STCD WITHIN TABLE AS '# Stores' NOPRINT
    CNT.STCD WITHIN ST AS '# Stores within State'
    COMPUTE CUMULATIVE/I8C = IF ( REC_SEQ EQ 1 ) THEN C2 - C3 ELSE ( CUMULATIVE - C3 ); AS 'Cumulative'
BY ST NOPRINT
ON TABLE SET PAGE NOLEAD
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT XLSX
END

Thanks Tony. The C2 - C3 method worked.

What I meant with "Goofed Up" output on multi verb reports...The sub-total AS NAME is not on the same row as the data in Excel output.
