How do I discover where the default directory for my hold files is? And for holdmast?

The people who installed/configured WebFocus are gone and the people still around are somewhat clueless!

Issue "? PATH" in a focexec to display your path settings.

Why do you need to know what the hold file directory is?

ab, no worries, we can help you figure this out, but first tell us about your installation, such as the version and the environment. (e.g. Are you running Webfocus or Mainframe?)
If you're running Web, the default directories for interim files are 1) the current agent (the temp directory where the fex runs, which dies when the fex is finished)
2. controllable by the setting of TEMPDIR
SET TEMPDIR = D:\...some directory name
which can be set either in each fex or in your edasprof. If no such setting, then the agent is the default.
3. controllable in each fex with SET TEMPDIR
or with explicit FILEDEF statements such as
FILEDEF HOLDMAST, etc. or explicit USE statements.
The SET TEMPDIR and FILEDEF HOLDMAST are powerful statements which you need to understand before you go off using them ... in other words, they have 'consequences'.
