Does anyone know if there's a limit on the number of data adapters allowed?

I think your license should only allow you to use certain types, as for number, best bet is to contact your local rep.

As I understand it, the license governs how many database server connections I am allowed. In this case we only connect to two servers but have multiple databases on each server. It's the connections to the multiple databases I'm concerned with.

Aaron,

If they are all the same type of connection then I do not think you will have a limit?

For instance, if you have many database servers of MS SQL then you only use one type of adapter. If you also have DB2 on ZOS then you need licensing for MS SQL and DB2. If you also have DB2 on AS400 then you need licensing for MS SQL and DB2 (I think) although IB might want to charge you for the the two disparate O/S'.

I wouldn't think there would be a limit but it looks like there is. I added a new adapter, which tested fine, and then tried to create the synonyms for the connection and received an error. I deleted an older connection and tried to create the synonyms on the new connection again and had no problems.

Aaron :
My understanding has been that you will need to buy one adapter of each kind (MS-SQL, DB2/MVS, DB2/AS400, etc.) to suit each of the data sources. And that there is no usage limit on the number of instances, for each of those purchased adapters.

Aaron,

Using release 5.2, we hit a limit of 64 connections. Check out this thread titled Limit of SQL Data Adapters

https://forums.informationbuilders.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/...501018331#2501018331

IBI fixed it for us, and if I recall correctly, the limit is 264 now???

Good Luck,

Carol

Carol

65 is about what we hit. Is this something in a config file or does IBI have to do all the work? Thanks!

Aaron

Hi Aaron,

We hit this limit with release 5.2
IBI gave us a patch to allow for 265 database connections in 5.2.8. I guess I assumed it would be fixed in all future releases. You should open a case, they may be able to give you a standalone fix right away. The case number was 93061085

Hope this helps!

Carol

Hi Aaron, Carol,

The number of adapters was increased from 64 to 256 in version 528.

Cheers, Smiler
