I have coded an amper variable that I would like to display in a
report heading.

-SET &DLT = '<=';
-TYPE DLT = &DLT

TABLE FILE MMDB1
HEADING
" REPORTS &DLT.EVAL DAYS OLD "
" "
BY ASSIGNEE
IF RECORDLIMIT EQ 2
END
-RUN
-EXIT

When I test it as above, I get this error:

quote:

> ERROR AT OR NEAR LINE 21 IN PROCEDURE OPORD_SUFOCEXEC
(FOC406) THE FIELDNAME IS NOT RECOGNIZED: =
BYPASSING TO END OF COMMAND

I know I could do this with a Define but can't it be done
on the fly with dialague manager? Frowner

Thanks!

Try this:

-SET &DLT = '&|lt;=';
-*
TABLE FILE CAR
 HEADING
  " REPORTS &DLT DAYS OLD "
  " "
 BY COUNTRY
END

Or stick it in a field.

DEFINE FILE CAR
lt/A2 = '<=';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
 HEADING
  " REPORTS <le DAYS OLD "
  " "
 BY COUNTRY
END

Change the HEADING Line 1 in Waz's sample code to
" REPORTS <lt DAYS OLD "
Both options works fine.

On my way home last night it occurred to me that
perhaps there is an HTML equivalent code for the
= sign.

Well, whoomp there it is!

-SET &DLT = '&|lt;=';
-SET &HDRD = '&|#060;' | '&|#061;';
-SET &AGEX = 30;

TABLE FILE MMDB1
HEADING CENTER
" Orders Opened: &DLT &AGEX Days Ago "
" Orders Opened: &HDRD &AGEX Days Ago "
" "
BY ASSIGNEE
IF RECORDLIMIT EQ 5

END
-RUN

Thanks for you replies.
