Anyone familiar with this error message?

Internal Error
[Exception... "Failure" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)"
location: "JS frame :: https://winfocus/ibi_apps/tdg/jschart/distribution
/tdgchart-min.js :: a :: line 41" data: no]

It flashes for a second when I run some charts, then disappears and the chart runs without a problem. This is the first time I've noticed the issue, although it's possible it happened in the past and was just quick enough that I didn't notice.

What kind of chart is this? Is it one of the Extensions? Also, is this problem reproducible on other browsers or only a specific one?

It's a stacked bar chart. I'm mainly seeing the problem in Firefox. Chrome flickers before running the chart, but it's too fast for me to see if it's showing the error message or something else. It appears to run fine in Edge or IE.

Take a look in \ibi\WebFOCUS82\logs directory and open the latest ones and search for errors. See if the message has anything you can decipher.

It sounds like you'll have to open a case with IB Tech Support so they can trace the error and figure out what's happening. When you find out could you please post here in case we run into it too?

Marie,

I just saw this post while researching another issue. I have this issue too when running the extensions. The problem is that when it occurs for me it never runs again. I continuously get this issue with that chart from that point out. Even thought my colleagues can still run it from the same place and same browsers.

I have tried both IE and Chrome and they never render just throw this error. I demoed this to IBI during Summit this year creating a chart from scratch and I was able to duplicate it with them watching. Did not see get any response from them about if they cared to look into. I have found that the D3 charts we are still own our own even for the "canned" ones they include.

I'm guessing that there's an error on the browser's Javascript console. If you share it, that might ring a bell for someone.

This is a wild guess, but does your report output any content _before_ the chart gets added? That sometimes causes the browser to "correct" invalid HTML formatting and that can affect the order in which javascript code gets run and can then cause race conditions.

It sounds like the error you have may have a different cause, MReeder. We only have the issue in Firefox for charts that use the built-in automatic prompting page to allow users to select parameters. We were able to prevent the error from appearing by switching to an earlier version of the prompting page, although I'm still waiting to see if they can figure out why it happened.

Wep5622, the only content before the chart is the prompting page.
