I run this to create my hold file:

APP HOLD HELDFILES
APP HOLDMETA HELDFILES
APP HOLDDATA HELDFILES
-RUN
FILEDEF MYFILE DISK \\HURSTPOINT\C$\IBI\APPS\HELDFILES\MYFILE.FTM
TABLE FILE PEOPLESOFT
PRINT *
ON TABLE HOLD AS MYFILE FORMAT ALPHA
END
-EXIT

Then I look out on Windows Explorer and I see the FTM file and the Master file in the directory. However, when I try to query it, WF says it cannot find the file. I try like this:

SET ASNAMES = ON
SET ALL=ON
-RUN
FILEDEF MYFILE DISK \\HURSTPOINT\C$\IBI\APPS\HELDFILES\MYFILE.FTM
-RUN
TABLE FILE MYFILE
PRINT *
END

Any thoughts? I'm about ready to chuck my PC out the window.

Try:
APP MAP HELDFILES \\HURSTPOINT\C$\IBI\APPS\HELDFILES
APP HOLD HELDFILES
-RUN
FILEDEF MYFILE DISK HELDFILES/MYFILE.FTM
TABLE FILE PEOPLESOFT
PRINT *
ON TABLE HOLD AS MYFILE FORMAT ALPHA
END
-EXIT

If you want to use it later:
APP MAP HELDFILES \\HURSTPOINT\C$\IBI\APPS\HELDFILES
APP APPENDPATH HELDFILES
-RUN
FILEDEF MYFILE DISK HELDFILES/MYFILE.FTM
-RUN
TABLE FILE MYFILE
PRINT *
END

If the second section runs in the same "context" or session then you won't need to issue APP MAP twice.

You don't need the FILEDEF in the first TABLE request. The APP HOLD takes care of where to put both the .mas and the .ftm files.
