I know I can do CHECK FILE "MASTER" HOLD, then table the results and get most of what I need. However this method seems to truncate descriptions a+ defines+ remarks within the master. I know there is another method of "SYSCOLUM" can anyone explain if I have to issue an APP PATH command to get to the appropriate SYSCOLUM repository. Or if there another method. Basically the ask is to provide master + attribute + define level report to support an audit requirement. Any assistance appreciated.

Be aware that the SYSCOLUM table is a multi segment table and not all segments are populated so you will need to either -
  • specify the column names within your table request
  • issue a SET ALL = PASS before your table request

You can also hit just the segments you want with

PRINT SEG.{Col name in segment}

Such as SEG.NAME or SEG.TBNAME

This will print all columns in the segment in the table
