Batch scheduling of reports

Hi,

I have a set of reports which need to be scheduled to run after a flag value is updated in the database. I have a FOCEXEC which in turn will call a Java program that checks for the flag value.

When this program returns TRUE, all these reports should be run. I need to execute all these reports in a batch. How can I create a batch job to schedule all these reports?

Use Report Caster with your trigger fex as a preprocessing job that will reset the nextruntime value in the RC schedule database.

I shall point you to the web page as there are several useful articles there that should provide some decent help for you in your endeavours. This way you'll be able to bookmark it for future reference. If I only gave you the link to the specific article then it would be very remiss of me, as it would only provide a single point of assistance. This way you get a whole page full of useful information.

Mohan: We do something similar using Report Caster APIs. The first Focexec (the one that calls the Java program to check the database flag) is scheduled using Report caster to run every 30 minutes. If the database flag is updated, it collects the list of reports that need to be scheduled and schedules them to Report Caster using Report Caster APIs. Of course we also mark which reports were scheduled (and when they need to be scheduled again) to avoid scheduling them EVERY 30 minutes.
