Hi,
I'm trying to get the SUBTOTAL for the following..

  ONE TWO THREE FOUR
       --------------------

A       10   10   10   10
B        5    5    5    5
C        3    3    3    3

SUBTOTAL 8    8    8    8

I need the SUBTOTAL ON B AND C
Please note that I'm not using the FOR field and I can't use RECAP .. any ideas would be appreciated...

Could you use another sort field, and SUBTOTAL with WHEN.

DEFINE FILE CAR
 S_GROUP/A1 = IF SEATS EQ 2 THEN 'A' ELSE 'B' ;
END
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM SALES
BY S_GROUP
BY SEATS

ON S_GROUP SUB-TOTAL
WHEN S_GROUP EQ 'B'

No! The value of the BY field is always included right after the SUBTOTAL label. If you don't want to have it there then you'll need to use a SUBFOOT to make up your totals instead of SUBTOTAL.

It is also a good idea to set some time aside to learn the language. A look at "Creating Reports with WebFOCUS Language" manual would be of great help. Check it out in the Documentation section at IBI's Technical Support website.

How about this:

 S_GROUP/A10 = IF SEATS EQ 2 THEN ' ' ELSE 'SUBTOTAL' ;
