I need to make a copy of some files and move it to my local machine. Is there a way to do this? I know that you can upload things like images and documents, but is there a way to export them to my machine?

Are you looking for a "Change Management Export" package ?

If so, this is available from the Client (if you have Admin right or other rights that allows you that).
It will result in a zip file with selected files to extract (download) that can be then used to Import (using Change Management Import feature) somewhere else in BI environment
