I'm using the multi-select tool for my ad-hoc report which looks something like the following:

...
TABLE FILE BLAH
PRINT
&RP_FN06P_Detail1.(AND(<Actual Name1,BLAH.BLAH.COLUMNNAME1>,...>)).Please select detail field(s).
BY  
&RP_FN01B_Sort5.(BY(<Actual Name1,BLAH.BLAH.COLUMNNAME2>,...>)).Please select sort field(s).
...


When I do this, the HTML form shows Actual Name 1 & Actual Name 2 for select list options, but the output shown displays COLUMNNAME1 & COLUMNNAME2 at the top.

Any ideas how I get the output column headings to use the descriptive name?

How did "Actual Name 1" and "Actual Name 2" end up in your HTML select list?

Anyway, the way to make WebFOCUS pick up those values for your column titles is to add those descriptions to the masterfile.

FIELDNAME=COLUMNNAME1, ALIAS=COLUMNNAME1, ACTUAL=A20, USAGE=A20, 
MISSING=ON, TITLE='Actual Name 1', $
FIELDNAME=COLUMNNAME2, ALIAS=COLUMNNAME2, ACTUAL=A10, USAGE=A10, 
TITLE='Actual Name 2', $
...

In the parameter properties check off "Send Display Value". The value shown takes on the name of parameter with "_TEXT" which you can use in you code for the column title. So from your example code you can add
AS '&RP_FN06P_Detail1_TEXT'
