Hello all,

I'm new to the Focal Point forum (well this is my first post anyway Smiler ) so please excuse me if I haven't posted this question at the right location or if I'm asking a question that has already been answered here...

My problem is as follows:

The date picker / calendar control in the HTML layout painter that is used by default for DATE variables when creating an HTML page for a FEX isn't giving me the ability to select the correct notation/output. What I'm looking for is a DMYY output like so: D-M-YY (13-01-2007). The options only allow me to use 13/01/2007.

Any ideas? (other than editting the dyncalendar.js file)

Kind regards,
Adrian.

Short answer Adrian, is no.

There are only certain formats set up.

However, rather than taking a sledge hammer to it, because I think you would have to change dyncalendar and calendarInit, is just create your own function with a replace() (of / to -) in it in your HTML code and run that from dyncalendar_hideLayer. That way you run less risk of problems.

Does it not work for your selection. Just curious, we have DB2 dates which in the world of DB2 sql woul want yyyy-mm-dd. When I set up the calendar on a report I selected the smart date format yymd and the calendar displays it as month/day/year as I recall. Had to remove the calendar as it wouldn't work in FIREFOX, so I don't have the example any more.

It's how you want the date displayed on the form, some users, mine at least, can be a bit fussy and the basic diplay options are limited, so I use a bit of js to change it how I want.

However the calendar does work in Firefox now in 7.1.

It might be a good suggestion to ask this to the WebFocus designers.
It would be better if this function is depends on the regional settings of the users computer, which can be different within one company.

Very true Frank

Whilst I can cope with the plain HTML, UA has the same limited set of formats and it is a real pain to do anything with them.

Even worse, some date formats, that are deemed acceptable, will cause an error in the IB js, leaving you to have to null the date in the js if the user wants to change it.

Changing the .js is not a good idea since you would then have to make sure that you modify it every time you upgrade. A quick solution is to take whatever format you pick in the calendar and convert it in your fex with an EDIT function.

-SET &DTB = EDIT(&DOB,'$$$$$99$$$') ||'-'|| EDIT(&DOB,'$$$$$$$$99')||'-'|| EDIT(&DOB,'9999$$$$$$');
