Just Checking to see if anyone has created any user written subroutines, and if you would describe what it does?

Thanks

Scott,

yes, back in the 90's I created a subroutine which was sort of an extended GETTOK. We had ISAM files with variable field lengths and GETTOK was limited to 256 bytes but this one allowed us to read records of up to 1024 bytes.

I did a bunch back in the 90's as well (8 to 10). I think the big one for me at the time was to validatge a canadian social insurance number. I can't remember what the others were for! It's been a really long time since I had a reason to build one.

Been doing a lot of security exit stuff lately though ... but that isn't quite the same thing.

It has been quite a while since I need to write a user-written sub-routines, over the decades FOCUS has gotten more powerful. The ASIS() function has replaced the one I created to tell blank from zero (0) in dialogue manager. The user-written sub-routine calling an external sort on the mainframe has been replaced with SET EXTERNAL SORT=ON. I have created one that returns the office name and information from a code. This one is still in use after twenty-one year. The internal table has been updated several times, but it means everyone get the same office lookup. It eliminates the risk of a dangerous user with a little knowledge breaking the look up decode, then blaming you because it not working. Big Grin

I've written two within the last 5 years to add functionality we needed to focus for unix:

HDRTOK - to work around the bugs in GETTOK.
URIBLN - to strip multiple contiguous blanks from a string.
