Focal Point Banner

As of December 1, 2020, Focal Point is retired and repurposed as a reference repository. We value the wealth of knowledge that's been shared here over the years. You'll continue to have access to this treasure trove of knowledge, for search purposes only.

New TIBCO Community Coming Soon
In early summer, TIBCO plans to launch a new community—with a new user experience, enhanced search, and expanded capabilities for member engagement with answers and discussions! In advance of that, the current myibi community will be retired on April 30. We will continue to provide updates here on both the retirement of myibi and the new community launch.

What You Need to Know about Our New Community
We value the wealth of knowledge and engagement shared by community members and hope the new community will continue cultivating networking, knowledge sharing, and discussion.

During the transition period, from April 20th until the new community is launched this summer, myibi users should access the TIBCO WebFOCUS page to engage.

Has anyone from Banner schools built in the Banner fund/org security into Finance Webfocus reports. If you have would you be willing to share. I know the tables, but the hierarchy is complicated to pull.

Contact your Ellucian rep/consultant. Banner has views that incorporate the security outside of WebFOCUS. We use it at Fordham U.

Here's a snippet:

There are functions built into some of the Banner views (in this example Finance AF_BUDGET_DEVELOPMENT is the view)
that support the module specific security like Finance FOMPROF and FOASYSC which set up access to specific Fund and Orgs to specific users.
 Below is a section of the code that produces the AF_BUDGET_DEVELOPMENT view.
In that view it runs these functions to only allow the retrieval of information that the person has been granted access to from FOMPROF and FOASYSC.

f_fund_org_security_fnc, and f_wbud_fund_org_security

AND DECODE (fobsysc_fund_org_security_ind,
'Y', f_fund_org_security_fnc (fbvbldl_coas_code,
fbvbldl_fund_code,
fbvbldl_orgn_code
),
'Y'
) = 'Y'
AND DECODE (fobsysc_wbud_ind,
'Y', fbkbudg.f_wbud_fund_org_security (fbvbldl_coas_code,
fbvbldl_fund_code,
fbvbldl_orgn_code
),
'Y'
) = 'Y'
AND fobsysc_eff_date <= fbvbldl_activation_date
AND ( fobsysc_nchg_date IS NULL
OR fobsysc_nchg_date > fbvbldl_activation_date
)
AND fobsysc_status_ind = 'A';

That's interesting. Unfornuately some of our Webfocus users log in with a generic username. Ex: username 'Budget'. So it would not identify who the individuals are.

Thanks for the information though. I did not know these views did this.
