The "USE" command does not work with WebFOCUS MAINTAIN ....... Is there an alternative, or trick to this? I need to be able to specify a FOCUS database, using a common alias.

Please try this technique. I have seen a lot of success with it.

Create a Shell Maintain that EXECs a procedure to do the USE commands, and then does a CALL to the parent Maintain. All of the USEs performed in the EXEC'd procedure will be in effect for the entire session.

So, create a procedure called SETTER. If can have:

USE
CAR ON FOCSU
MOVIES ON FOCSU
END

Assume my Maintain is called MAIN. I can then create a Shell procedure containing:

MAINTAIN
EXEC SETTER
CALL MAIN
END

That's it. Give it a try!

Message from William, Mark's technique does work when calling data from the SU, and also works when specifiing a local data path.
