Hi,
I am setting a value at the beginning of an HTML page.
-SET &VAR = 'VALUE';
before
quote:
< !-- Generated by Report Layout Painter -->
< !DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

I want to clear the screen before the HTML page loads, so the "-SET &VAR" statements do not appear on the screen.

I'd love to hear your suggestions.
Marilyn

If that's really an HTML page (.html or .htm suffix) then
-SET &VAR = 'VALUE';
does not belong on that page - that's FOCUS code and only works in fexes (.fex suffix).

I have done this before---probably about version 5.something.

It worked then. But there's always a possibility that has changed with newer versions? Now I can't remember how I cleared the screen.

It was a great way to set minimum or maximum dates thqt can be entered.

The window.top....line of code will clear your frame. If you want to do this on load put the code in the onInitialUpdate function. Hope this helps.

//Begin function form1Reset_onclick
function form1Reset_onclick(ctrl) {
window.top.frames.report1.location.href = 'about:blank';
onInitialUpdate();

}
//End function form1Reset_onclick

Just to update my earlier post. I have learned through experience that this code should go in the onInitialUpdate function not a reset button event. I was running into errors with the page when using it in a reset button event. The button type Reset calls the onInitialUpdate function.
