Hi all,

ive rolled back to DS 716 and since then everytime i run a report it opens a small IE window in the middle of my screen instead of a fully maximised one.

using the resize>shift+close or resize>ctrl+close IE tricks works for new IE windows but doesn't effect a window opened from DS - therefore im always having to resize- v annoying!

anyone know what is wrong here?

SOLUTION:

do IE resize trick with DS generated IE screen not an IE screen opened from the IE shortcut or IE.exe.

IE Resize trick:

resize window to desiured size, do not hit 'Maximise' if you want it full screen, drag the edges of the window to the edges of the screen.

then goto File> and hit Close while hold shift or ctrl
>>>>>>>>>>>

yes a bizarre one, it shouldn't make a difference where you open the IE window from but it does, you can resize the screen from IE but it won't effect any screen triggered from DS.

alternatively the opposite works as well and is probably more beneficial to the more experienced of coders - so if you never want the DS IE screen to maximise do the opposite

cheers

Although this is solved I wonder why you did a roll back
We are planning an upgrade from 7.1.4 to 7.6.5 (or.6)
To be prepaired well I am very interested in other users experiences.

Frank

prod: WF 7.6.10 platform Windows,
databases: msSQL2000, msSQL2005, RMS, Oracle, Sybase,IE7
test: WF 7.6.10 on the same platform and databases,IE7

Frank,

I get the impression that the problem lay with IE and not DS. It could be that, like me, nubi has found it to be less memory intensive and not as slow as 7.6.5.

I am currently using DS 7.6.5 for demonstating Google Maps but as soon as I've finished that I will be uninstalling 7.6.5 DS and reinstalling DS 7.1.6.

One particular thing I hate about DS 7.6.5 is the fact that when you run a launch page direct from the apps folder etc. it waits until most of the JS has run before it will allow you to regain focus on the DS application - why? Having focus on the DS app is not dependant upon what IE (or your browser) is doing so why the wait? Very infuriating Mad particularly when you have a combo box on the launch page that takes a good 10 seconds to get the large number of data items. (and no, it's not the PC because it doesn;t happen with DS 7.1.6 which is why I'm rolling back Smiler)

Hi,

just an update, ive changed machine and am using 765 and now this trick isn't working, for some reason every DS IE window i open is at a small size, so perhaps the trick is specific to how your machine is set up...not sure but is very annoying having to resize the window each time, and yes i do need to open a new one each time...arggh!!

We have the same issue via Citrix - here's our workaround.

1. Run a program from DS so it opens an IE window/session.

2. In that IE window, select File/New Window to create a new IE window.

3. Resize the new IE window and close the first/original IE window.

4. Now close the second IE window and subsequent ones should use the new settings.

This works for us but we're not running local.

I rolled back to 7.1.6 at the end of last week and this a.m. I've just had the problem, but the trick above worked for me.

However, since rolling back the local WF/DS server starts up even though the check boxes are unchecked! Only slightly annoying compared to the 7.6.5 item mentioned above but still unnecessary!

Tony, if it's a local install wouldn't there be "dangling" registry enrties that could effect that?

Rick,

That is true but I haven't looked for them yet, I was just having a gripe Wink

As Spock would know, there's nothing like a Klingon to annoy you!
