[SOLVED] Why can't I run a procedure after making changes in DevStudio?

I am running Developer Studio 7.6.4. I keep having to close Dev Studio and reopen it to run procedures. If I don't make a change, I can run them multiple times. Once I make a change, the run button ceases to work for ANY procedure. I've tried the one on the toolbar and the Run from the right-click menu. It is extremely annoying!

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Theresa, Of course this is not normal behaviour. I have found that when something goes wrong with the operations of Dev Studio it's usually due to the wrong version of Java. I would open a case with Information Builders Tech Support - they will guide you in determining the version of Java on your PC and how to fix the problem.

This happens to me every once in a while. When it does I either restart DevStudio or just continue by pressing the F5 key to run the active procedure.

It blows but I figure it's Windoze just making my life miserable again. Wanna use my mac but I can't. Boo Hoo!

I've also seen this occasionally and have determined that it's usually a problem with not being able to open another internet explorer window. (don't know why it can't - I'll blame it on Microsoft.) Make sure the "Use new browser to execute" box is checked in the Window>Options>General tab in DevStudio. Then close any browser windows that may be open. If it still won't work, go to the task manager and I'll bet there's still an iexplore.exe process still running (even though you have no browser windows open!) Kill any iexplore processes and see if that does the trick. Usually does for me.

Regards,

Darin

You might try the lastest hotfix for 764.

Or....another way I've seen to workaround that is to make sure this checkbox is selected "use new browser to execute." It's under filemenu / window / options on the general tab.

To those people that made the suggestion about checking the "Use new browser to execute" option, that worked! Thank you!

Now where can I get the latest hotfix for my version of Dev Studio? I've searched the website, but I can't find a download area.

Thanks!
Theresa

If you go to techsupport.ibi.com and register if you have not already done so, you will see the download link on the right side under My Account.

Good ole Focal Point. Got a new computer and install of Dev Studio. And could not run anything.
Darin's instructions fixed me in a second.
Thanks...6 years later

Smiler Make sure the "Use new browser to execute" box is checked in the Window>Options>General tab in DevStudio.
