Hi!

I have the following setup in ReportCaster's Distribution tab:

Server Name: our proxy server
Location: E:\SAPRepository\download
User ID: login@IPAddress

I know the server name, user id, and password work. I'm not sure if the location syntax is right. Can anyone tell me if that is right?

Also, can I re-run the report by deferring it and it will FTP or does the transfer only happen when the report is scheduled to run?

Thanks for your time

the server name can be the physical name of the box, a DNS name (if it is understood via DNS entry on your network) or the IP address of the box. We prefer to use IP address (it breaks if the box's ip address changes, but we want to know if that happens.)

If the report is re-run manually (as in "Run Now") WITHIN REPORTCASTER, then the FTP still happens.

Not sure what you mean by "deferring it."

Regards,

Darin

I don't know the exact answer to your question about location but I know that in some of our schedules, the ftp location is 'relative' to something on the target box. Maybe if you try to do the ftp from a prompt and do a pwd (print working directory) when you get to the target, you will know where you are and where your target directory is in relation to that. Hope that helps.

Running deferred can only be done from MRE or the console, not from RC. The ftp will only be done by RC. The other methods of running your report don't know about ftp.

Hope this helps.

You can put the UNIX FTP commands in the program and it will do the FTP whether it is run from report caster or from MRE. If you do this, when you run from RC, you will get a message "No Report to Distribute"
