Has anyone ever seen AND resolved the "Userid [any.user] is not a member of any mapped external groups." issue?

We are getting this issue in our Test environment now after, as far as we know, 'nothing has changed. This is happening in our test environment only. Our Production environment is fine.

We do have a case open and are waiting on IB's reply at this time.

Is there an external security provider created? The reason I ask is, if so, could be that the user is failing the primary security provider test and hitting an external security provider, failing that test. Then that message would make sense.

Another thought is, someone could have created a Security Group and set that to point to an external group. Look for something like that.

Thanks Don. That led to some more analysis and is still puzzling.

I opened a case on this issue which is pending resolution.

Ditto with Don

Do you have external security ?
Typically it would be done via the reporting server. You can determine that in the Admin Console, in the Security Tab under Security Configuration / External.

We have seen similar when there is an issue with connecting to the DB server to authenticate our users.

Yes we do. But, it came up 'all of a sudden' without notice and without any known changes made between the last time this environment was accessed successfully and the time it was denied.

We do not have any issues in our other environment and all things do compare between the two. The admin id and password have been verified as well.

It seems to be a DB Access issue. But where its root issue is has yet to be determined.

I would suggest next time it happens, log into the reporting server with the server admin id, and test your user under access control.

Also do a basic test against the DB in the configured adapters.

We have also seen this happen (we connect with JDBC) in our Dev environment when someone runs a ludicrous query. It chews up so many resources that is compromises other connections.

Thanks Waz,

That, "someone runs a ludicrous query. It chews up so many resources that is compromises other connections." may be the root cause of our issue. We did the "basic test against the DB in the configured adapters." and it looked good. But, then we did that again,
changed to password and verified that, followed by a "Save" and it worked.

The Bottom Line: We're up and running... Case Closed...

Now on to Mobile Faves...
