We are trying to pass user id via the link and based on the user id we need to populate the dropdown values.
I did this using !ibi.fil.
and including the html page in a fex.
I am calling the fex to execute.
Everything works up to this point.
But, when I try to run the report by selecting a value, it does not work. The report is not taking parameter value at all.
Please help.

Thank you.

Hi ReddyP,

Are you using BI Dashboard?
Are you trying to get the users login ID from the BID through Managed Reporting?

Can you get the user id before you call the other procedure?

Can you post some of the code where you are trying to launch the other procedure and passing it the parameter?

Dave

Hello dburton,
I am using the report as a self service app.
For now, we resolved this issue using asp page that would have redirect URL to the self-service app with concatenated user ID at the end of the URL.
Thank you.

Be sure, if you use htm files to call fexes, to do this from within a form. Also within the form all variables will have to be defined, otherwise they won't be passed to the fex.
The alternative to this is, as you found, appending the needed variabels to the URL yourself by mrans of asp or javascript or some such mechanism.

ReddyP,
It sounds to me like you are doing this in reverse order from what I'm used to. If you create an HTML Launch Page with the drop-down lists and then use a .fex to populate the drop-down list you should be able to filter the results of the fex based on the user.
Another option would be to create user profiles and declare filters against your data sources.

Thank you Gamp and Dan for your suggestions.
Dan, my problem is to get the windows user login ID. Our reporting server is set to posts mode and we are passing the reporting server credentials via the admin console.
Whenever, I use the getuser function, I get the reporting server login ID but not the user who is actually going to run the report.
That is why we had to use ASP redirect route.
Once we get the user ID, rest of the process is the same as you explained.
Thanks.
