I want to transform the rows into a column.

My result is:

Value3,

My gold is:

You could HOLD FORMAT ALPHA and do a LOOP for &LINES times for a -READ and concatenate the items in to a variable (for starters).

Variable.

I'm already concatenating the items, but I get values in rows not in one column.

TABLE FILE MYFILENAME
BY TIME_DAY
ON TABLE HOLD AS HDFILE FORMAT FOCUS
END
-RUN

DEFINE FILE HDFILE
ALPHA_DATETIME/A8=FTOA(TIME_DAY ,'(D8c)','A8');
DATETIME/HYYMD = HINPUT(8, ALPHA_DATETIME, 8, 'HYYMD');
DATE/&dateformat=HDATE(DATETIME, 'YYMD');
ALPHADATE/A30 = DATETRAN(DATE, '(&dateformat)', '(-)', 'PT', 30, 'A30');
RESULT/A200 = ALPHADATE||',';
END

TABLE FILE HDFILE
PRINT RESULT
ON TABLE HOLD AS LISTDATE FORMAT ALPHA
END

What I get is a string like:
2011-05-21,
2011-05-22,
2011-05-23,
2011-05-24,

What I want is: 2011-05-21, 2011-05-22, 2011-05-23, 2011-05-24,

All in the same line, without the line break.

Thanks,
Carlos Dias

You need to use the LAST command

-SET &dateformat = 'DMYY' ;

DEFINE FILE EMPLOYEE
 HIRE_DT/YYMD = HIRE_DATE ;
END
TABLE FILE EMPLOYEE
BY HIRE_DT
ON TABLE HOLD AS HDFILE
END
-RUN

DEFINE FILE HDFILE
DATE/&dateformat=HIRE_DT;
ALPHADATE/A30 = DATETRAN(DATE, '(&dateformat)', '(-)', 'PT', 30, 'A30');
RESULT/A300V = IF LAST ALPHADATE EQ ' ' THEN ALPHADATE ELSE LAST RESULT || (',' | ALPHADATE);
END

TABLE FILE HDFILE
SUM LST.RESULT
-*ON TABLE HOLD AS LISTDATE FORMAT ALPHA
END
